World’s Tallest Donation Box launched in Dubai to provide meals to underprivileged during COVID-19

The World’s Tallest Donation box initiative was lately launched in Dubai. As per the project, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at a height of 828 m, will be converted into a donation box as part of the campaign aimed at offering meals to Coronavirus-hit communities across the United Arab Emirates.

Apparently, for each AED 10 (20.57 INR) donation, one of the 1.2 million LED lights of the building would be illuminated, which represents a meal. Referring to this, Dubai’s media office issued a statement that said representing donations as lights flashing on Burj Khalifa reflects the hope that small acts of kindness will bring to less fortunate communities, as the country maintains its battle versus COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the most recent news reports, as many as people from more than 100 countries have been a part of the said cause by buying a LED light on the façade of the world’s tallest building for as little as AED 10.

The Tallest Donation Box drive is a part of the operation that seeks to reach the goal of offering 1.2 million meals and brighten the entire building. Lighting the world’s tallest building for a good cause also improves the status of the UAE as a global beacon of hope in all circumstances.

Many corporations in the UAE and beyond have extended a helping hand to this campaign, with the Atlantis Resorts pledging 20000 meals this week.

The campaign was initiated by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in association with Burj Khalifa.

How to contribute?

  • People and companies can pay for Burj Khalifa lights, for as little as AED10, to provide mealtimes for the low-income people, on the website www.tallestdonation
  • One can also offer meals through the 10 million meals campaign by visiting the www.10millionmeals website or via SMS, registered on the website.
  • Additionally, contributors and donors have the opportunity to canned food supplies, packages, or food packages for distribution by contacting the campaign team by calling their toll-free number 8004006.
