The detailed process that you should know while renewing passport in India

Passport is one of the most significant ID for a person travelling abroad. There are numerous countries, which offer visa-on-arrival facility while many need a visa before. Though, owning a passport is a must for stepping out of the country. The validity of an Indian passport is 10 years, and it needs to be changed after the said time period.

There are Passport Seva Kendras in numerous cities, where a person can submit their application form for the renewal of passport. Though the form can also be filled and submitted online on the official website, an appointment is required to the Passport Seva Kendra after the submission is done. One must get their appointment done online, and then visit the centre (Kendra) on the selected date along with the required documents.

Follow the given steps for renewal of passport in India:

Step 1: Visit (the official website).
Step 2: Click on ‘Register Now’ and fill in your name.
Step 3: Create a login ID & password.
Step 4: A link will be sent on the recorded email ID, click on it to activate your account.
Step 5: Login – Passport Seva Online Portal with the registered login ID and password.
Step 6: Now select Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport option.
Step 7: Download the form, fill it up and check all the details carefully.
Step 8: Now, upload the document.
Step 9: After the document is uploaded, click on the Pay and Schedule Appointment key on the View Saved/Submitted Applications screen and schedule an appointment.
Step 10: Select the nearest Passport Seva Kendra and book a slot as per your suitability.
Step 11: Click on the Print Application Receipt, having the Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.
Step 12: Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) on the day of the appointment and make sure that you carry all the original documents.

Must follow

1) Online payment is mandatory for booking appointments.
2) No need to carry a printout of application receipt as an SMS with your appointment details is acknowledged as proof of appointment.
3) All the mandatory original documents must be kept ready with you (photocopy as well).
4) Carry latest passport size photographs (4.5X3.5 cm).
