Tehri Lake, one of the most gorgeous water bodies in Uttarakhand, will soon be created into a world-class tourist fascination for sports fanatics. The proposal to transform this stunning place into a water-activity zone were considered in a meeting, which was listened by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Utpal Kumar Singh.
Stretched across an area of 42 km, the lake lacks better side road connectivity and ring road. Because of this, the area has no infrastructure, facilities for tourists or any other needs. All these crucial factors were debated in the meeting.
A leading tourism official present in the board meeting said that the existence of a ring road will be helpful for lakhs of people living in the area. Hari Om Sharma, PWD chief engineer advised that the total length of the ring road is 234 km; out of this, 142 km road is single lane and 20 km is being built under Char Dham all-weather road project.
Under the planned project, there will be four crossings that will be built on the road that will involve INR 680 crores. As per reports, the first stage of the road expansion will require INR 8.81 crore; the sum will reach INR 326 crore in the second phase and INR 334 in the third and the last phase. The chief secretary has requested the officials to start land acquisition and other necessary processes as soon as possible.
