Sri Lanka Tourism Ministry has newly launched new travel packages to encourage Indian tourists. A total of five new packages have been released by Sri Lanka Tourism for Indian travelers travelling to Sri Lanka, which aims to increase tourism that has seen a rapid decay since the Easter Sunday attacks this year. According to sources, the number of Indian travelers dropped to 9300 after the attacks, from 2.3 million in 2018. The attacks on April 21, 2019, had left 258 deceased, and ever since that terrible event, tourism had deteriorated in the country by almost 70 per cent. The new initiative to appeal more Indian vacationers has been launched by Sri Lanka Tourism, in partnership with Sri Lankan Airlines, Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, and inbound tour workers. The packages mostly offer reduced rates for exploring the beautiful country, and the reductions range from 30 to 60 per cent. Also, the packages comprise airfare, lodging, transport, and additional facilities.
The tour packages are being stretched to 12 Indian cities with 123 flights every week, and you can get a blend of the best of Sri Lanka, such as Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara, Eliya, Sigiriya, and the South Coast. You can pick your preferred option from the variety of budgets listed, and the offer is only effective from June 10 to September 30, 2019.
