Shillong to host Autumn Festival from Oct 26 at Umiam Lake

Shillong is gearing up to present the popular Autumn Festival at Umiam Lake on October 26 and 27, a carnival full of glamour and charm. It is one of those carnivals that celebrate the onset of the season and is mainly celebrated in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.

As per the officials, since the carnival drew a lot of tourists from around the state and was a massive accomplishment the last time it was held, it will be marked in a much better and bigger manner this time. Apparently, Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF) had been presenting this festival since 2006, which remained till 2012 after which it was terminated. However, the festival was restarted again last year.

This year too, it is projected that the event will pull in visitors, involving domestic and international travellers in good numbers. Opus Production will be accountable for managing the event, which took over the reins from the MTDF last year.

Newest reports indicate that the two-day event will feature Mumbai-based rock band, a global DJ from the United States, including local bands too. The other features of the event will be water sports, magic show, kid’s play area, food stalls, camp out facilities, and much more.

Mentioning to this event, the event organizers stated that the budget has not been confirmed yet and that they are expecting to get more sponsors this time. Overall, the main aim of this carnival is to be bigger and better this time so that it can entice people from outside Assam as well.
