Applying for a passport in India has just become more convenient now. According to the news reports, Indian citizens can now get a regular passport in just 11 days, and a tatkal passport in just one business day. The declaration was made by the Minister of State for External Affairs – Mr. V Muraleedharan.
The minister told the media that the central government has launched an app in 731 areas for applicant authentication by police. This enterprise is intended to check fraud and delay in receiving passports. As of now, there are 36 passport offices, 412 post office passport Seva centres and 93 passport Seva centres in the nation.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also released a notice about fake websites playing to be official passport application websites and apps that cheat naive requests by gathering their sensitive personal data.
The false passport websites accomplish their purpose by charging a heavy fee for online application and arranging an appointment for passport associated services. These fake websites are recorded in the domain name .com, .org and .in. Some of these fake sites are www.online-passportindia.com, www.indiapassport.org, www.passport-india.in, www.passportindiaportal.in, www.passport-seva.in and www.applypassport.org.
The only consistent and true official website to be visited for online request of passport and other related services is www.passportindia.gov.in. Otherwise, candidates can download the official mPassport Seva app on their iOS and Android phone.
