Delhi Tourism is hosting Itra and Sugandhi Mela at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri, this weekend. This festival will be conducted from November 8 to 10, in association with Fragrance and Flavor Development Centre (FFDC), Kannauj, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. The key idea behind presenting this festival is to bring the fine art of Itra and Sugandhi making, which are the core forms of traditional Indian perfumery.
A senior official in the know-how stated that the objective of this fest is to offer ample shopping opportunities for perfume lovers, who are interested in a range of Indian perfumes, Itra, dhoopbattis, aggarbattis, scented candles, essential oils, and other scented products.
Mentioning to this fest, the spokesperson also added that the festival will also present lectures of itra, sugandhi, and aromatherapy. One can also see the art of making a handmade leather bottle ( kuppi), which will be shown at this festival. Then there will be several local and cultural events to entertain guests during the evening hours, whereas kids will be able to benefit from amusement rides.
This unique effort of Delhi Tourism to coordinate this festival is to maintain this age-old tradition and to offer a prospect to discover the traditional aromas of India. Further, this three-day festival will start from 12 noon and go on till 10 pm
