Yes, you read that right! A legendary temple called Baba Balaknath in Himachal’s gorgeous hill station Dharamshala has received a huge amount of INR 1,32,00000 by auctioning goats. The holy place is quite popular and is well-known for its goat offerings by devotees. The temple, set in Deodsidh region of Hamirpur district, got this whopping income from auctioning 6371 male goats. According to stories, the amount was generated for the year 2019.
The temple is quite prominent and devotees who come here offer goats at the shrine though the temple does not have any provision of sacrificing the goats inside the site. Despite knowing this, folks still offer goats to the deities here for well-being. Thus, the temple trust arranges auctions every Monday and Friday of the week.
The sum has gone up drastically in 2019 as compared to 2018. There were 5825 goats that were auctioned in 2018 and the amount collected was INR 1,19,52,700.
